Countdown to SX: 19 Things to Do at #SXSW19
#SXSW19 is a festival that celebrates music, film, interactive industries with 1000s of opportunities to be inspired - whether you are in a session or showcase, attending a screening or exhibitions, or just walking around the convention center or any of the streets closed for the event.
Here are 19 things (in 6 buckets) that we have on our agenda for this years event:
Marketing Activations: Each year some of biggest brands create huge experiences (See 2018’s Ready Player One, HBO’s Westworld) that inspired marketers for the rest of the year. Here are a few we may check out: Visible’s Music Box, Netflix’s Bonnie & Clyde, the Bose pop-up, and the Bumble Hive. Likely there will be more announced soon.
Inspirational Talks: SXSW gets some of the most inspirational people to talk about what inspires them. These are a bunch we will be standing in line for: The Age of Smart Information, Beyond Reality: The Convergence of AI and Immersive Tech, Follow the Feeling: Creating Brand Value, Black Mirror and the Power of Speculative Design, Expeditions into the Uncanny Valley
Start Ups: SX is not only about big brands, but also about new emerging tech companies. Debra and Sam are both on the SXSW Pitch Board, so we will be checking out SXSW Pitch to see the finalists present.
Griffin Hall: JW Marriott’s Griffin Hall is holding the showcase for the Virtual Cinema Competitors. We can’t wait to see Kiira Benzing’s Runnin’, Gloomy Eyes, and Jessica Brillhart’s Traverse
Networking Events: People go to SX to have fun and to meet people. We are excited for the official networking events and unofficial ones that tend to happen naturally during the festival. Here are a couple scheduled MeetUps we may attend: The Women in Digital Marketing MeetUp, XR MeetUp, the Women in XR MeetUp
Our Talks and Events: We also have lots going on at SXSW this year keeping our team busy with ‘How to Stand Out in a Virtual World’ as a part of the Ignite series, a book signing for ‘Marketing New Realities,’ and the launch of the book ‘Convergence: How the World will be Painted in Data’ where Sam contributed the AR Advertising chapter.
