We compiled the latest articles, whitepapers, and research reports that have been inspiring us. They are the stand-outs, the notables, and the new stuff that gets us excited about what’s going on in XR.

More and More Immersion

Seems like there are immersive experiences opening every day. Arcadia Earth (Vogue 8/30/19) in New York has been pushing hard to get our attention. This London based one also caught our eye thanks to VR Scout’s article: Otherworld (8/21/19)

VR for Working Women

You had us at “VR,” Entrepreneur Magazine ("VR is Incredibly Empowering for Working Women" 9/2/19).

Everyone is Doing It

Having a 3-dimensional capture of your product is (or will be soon) standard practice like a photo of your product. Mountain Hardware (The Manual 8/30/19) is the newest example.

“Yeah, We Are Paying To See a Hologram”

Although hologram concerts aren’t entirely new, the rights of artists involved are starting to be more top of mind. See Whitney Houston (The National, 8/31/19) and even the Miley Cyrus episode of Black Mirror made it fictionally come to life (The Atlantic, 6/6/19)

Just Buy One

Volkswagen didn’t just create an AR or VR app. They purchased a stake in a Holographic company (VR Times, 8/31/19)

Musicians are Entering New Realities

The music industry is starting to realize the creative possibilities of AR and VR. Mark Ronson, for example, used Spark AR for his interactive video with King Princess (Next Reality, 8/21/19). Wunderkind and #1 hitmaker Billie Elish performed in VR on Sept 3 (VR Scout, 8/26/19). And Marshmello and Kane Brown announced that their Central Park concert will be on TV and in VR (VR Scout, 8/28/19).

The Studies Have Begun

Sometimes you need some research to prove the point of adopting new technologies. PWC will be testing out VR for training with 1000 participants (Daniel L. Ekert, via LinkedIn

It Took This Long?

Not surprisingly, but the amazing makeup featured on HBO’s Euphoria now has an Instagram Filter (PopSugar, 8/30/19)

I Need Another Hand

Developers can start incorporating hand gestures into Google (Mashable). So you will need one hand for your phone, one for the hand gestures, and one to swipe?

Westworld Enters It’s Actual World

It feels a little meta. HBO’s Westworld is now a VR game. We heard from the HBO team that this game is as deep and interactive as one would expect it to be. This article (8/19/19) showed us what the experience looked like.

Augmented Reality comes to ESPN

First it was weather, now sports. ESPN has begun integrating AR into broadcasts (Newscast Studio, 8/21/19)

Another Void, And Another One

The LBC The Void has begun to takeover more and more locations with their VR Centers (Yahoo, 8/23/19). Although the actual Void experience feels quite large, the space is surprisingly small. Take a look at this 2016 video from Augmented World Expo to see how brilliantly magical the team is.
